Description
This is so named for the three acorns. Two of them are brown and one of them is still green. This is the third in my giant squirrel painting series. The first one had one acorn. The second one had two. This one has three acorns. I guess you can figure out my system?
Each of these paintings is on a 24 inch square heavy duty gallery wrapped canvas. Some people call these box canvasses. I paint the sides so that you don't need to be framed. This image is larger than life. I wanted to fill out the canvas. Gray squirrels grow to be 17 to 20 inches long.
My little gray cat sat in front of this painting for a long time. She had watched me paint it. Squirrel watching is her favorite pastime. She moved away when she saw me with a camera. She is about a third the size of this painted squirrel.
I based this painting on one of my photographs. I used the photo to help me get the proportions correct. I simply made up the background and the foreground.
The Eastern gray squirrel or grey squirrel is a tree squirrel in the genus Sciurus native to the eastern and midwestern United States, and to the southerly portions of the eastern provinces of Canada. They are probably the most frequently seen mammal in our area.
