Description
I used to live in California. I loved to see the usually brown hills turn green. It always seemed to be for such a brief time. I hurried to hike through the hills lugging my paints and brushes on my back. It may seem like a simple scene but that was part of the charm. Dark oak trees seemed to polka dot the vast green expanses. Clear blue skies seemed so very big. I painted this en plein aire and enjoyed every minute of it.

This is such a relaxing scene. I sketched something similar from an area near Petaluma. Beautiful country.
AnnaJo Vahle replied:
Thank you, Tony. Yes, this wasn't too far from there. It is beautiful there. I miss it.

I'm sure this scene is further south, but it sure looks like the hills on the west side of the Sacramento Valley near Corning and Willows :) F/V
AnnaJo Vahle replied:
Hahah...not too far off. It is near Concord. I am familiar with the area you spoke of...lived in California a long time and in various parts of the state.
