Description
Although, it is a fairly large canvas to paint en plein aire...that is what I did here. I painted even bigger canvasses on this location. It is a lovely and comfortable spot on south Merritt Island along the Banana River. I often went out at sunrise and spent all day painting there. I loved to see the colors change and the various birds come and go throughout the day as I quietly painted. This particular afternoon, as the shadows grew long, the sky and water turned a vivid pink and purple. A heron stands in the shallow water close to the shore as he fished. An Osprey takes a few quick bites of its catch, before returning to the nest to feed its young. It almost felt as if the osprey wanted to show off it's catch to me as it watched me paint. It posed quite a long time for me. It was one of those magical moments.

AnnaJo, I can’t begin to imagine painting a full sheet en plein aire at one sitting! Such stamina!...YES, one of those MAGICal inspired moments, to be sure!! While the detail of the Osprey is the main focus ...my eye always travels to the long purply shadows where the Light resides nearby...what delight to find the Great Blue Heron...yet another fisherman awaiting dinner!
