Yesterday, AnnaJo N. Vahle picked up her award from the North Brevard Art League in Titusville, FL.
Her award-winning acrylic painting is entitled My Muse. Her muse, Jim, accompanied her as you can see by this photograph.
The judges' comment about her art work is as follows.
Artist exhibits good control of her medium and good technique. Through the details, I am drawn into this Muse, and it makes me, the viewer, wonder about the history behind his face and wonder what stories exist behind the cool blue eyes. Our senses enjoy the contrast between the warmth of the skin and the coolness of the beard and hair. The background was a wonderful choice (and backgrounds can make or beak a portrait); it's a cooler green imbued with purples, against the warm skin, and warmer green with a yellow cast, against the cool hair. Overall a well done portrait that makes us want to know more about her muse.

This is the premier space coast magazine especially for adults over 50 years.
The title of the painting is, "Hope." This seemed like an appropriate one for the difficul times that we are going through these days. The backgound sky is of a storm lifting. A field of sunflowers have been freshly washed by the recent rain. Rain drops still cling to the flowers. This particular sunflower stands tall with its face raised up above the others expressing hope.
There is an article about "One of Brevrd County's Finest" on page 11.
