Description
This is the fourth in my squirrel series. Like the others, this is 24 inch heavy duty gallery wrapped acrylic on canvas painting. The sides are painted so that it doesn't need to have a frame. It can still be framed, if you want to do so.
The first squirrel painting has one acorn. The second has two. The third one has three acorns. Can you find all four acorns in this scene?
This is a little Eastern Gray Squirrel based on a scene I saw in Merritt Island. I have tried to create a variety of backgrounds in each painting. This one has a misty foggy background.
I watched as this little squirrel deliberately ran over to a little branch and balanced on it to enjoy her acorn. It seemed odd that she did so since it was lying on the ground. Perhaps it gave her some comfort to be even just an inch off the ground? The foreground is covered in leaves and the natural debris found under oak trees.
Although she does have gray in her fur, she also has white and reddish brown colors. Her claws are quite long for digging. They are also useful for climbing trees.
I wasn't quite sure how I was going to paint this when I began. Sometimes, I just pick out some paint and let the canvas talk to me. This is one of those paintings. I toyed with the idea of putting a sky or some water in this and somehow, it seems to be somewhere in between. It came out as a mist!
