Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
Jackass Flats is near the Nevada Test Site out in the dessert. I used to go out there as a little girl. I liked to imagine why the beautiful big dessert area had been such a name and included a jackass in the scene. This is one of my first oil paintings. I believe that I was about 10 years old when I made it.

Talya, This is a very fabulous oil painting. I'm amazed by the colors and glorious tones as well as the details. (There's a band called Jackass Flats in Virginia. Maybe they copied their name from this place.) F/V
AnnaJo Vahle replied:
Hmmm...I never heard of them, but it could be. Thank you for your visit, Anne-Elizabeth.

This brings back memories from when I was 14 and took a back packing trip with friends, age 16, in similar terrain. Some of those trails were very narrow. The parents had a Ranger, crossing our path every so often, and keeping a watch on us. Very subtle but always near. We had a few places where we were crossing slate also, and much higher mountains. A very wonderful painting. V/F

Enjoy hearing of your experience. I, too, camped in such country quite often as a young girl. It seems that we had similar experiences. Thank you for your comment and v/f
