Description
Three people, a woman and a couple of men, are fishing. This is on the Indian River in Brevard County near the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. We were driving from Merritt Island to the mainland towards Titusville. I kicked myself that I didn't have my big camera with me. The water was so still and quiet that the boat and people reflected so nicely. It was a beautiful and peaceful scene. It is technically in the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge.
Fortunately, I did have my trusty I-phone to take the photograph. This is the result of my walking out along the shore near the bridge on the Merritt Island side. I am considering using this image as an idea for a painting. I am, however, not sure that I could paint it any better than it already looks as a photograph.
I am not sure what kind of fish they were hoping to catch. I know that redfish and speckled trout are popular in that area. Indian River Lagoon spotted sea trout are world famous. Once again the Florida state record specked trout was caught in the Indian River. That fish stands as the world record (over 17 pounds).
The North Indian River Lagoon's red fish are the highlight of any fishing charter. The Florida state record redfish was caught in the Indian River.
I like the notion that this people are enjoying a relatively low tech sport just a mile away from the Kennedy Space Center. I also like the idea that this is so tranquil and KSC represents excitement.

What an amazing capture and I surly understand the dilemma of whether to try and paint or let the photograph stand alone . This is fantastic by its own right . The stillness you captured imparts to the viewer such a peaceful feeling ! VL
