Where Are They?

Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
Description
This is the first half of a diptych entitled “Old Flames.” I didn't intend for this to be part of a diptych. I meant for this to be a complete painting unto itself. However, just as I was finishing it the truck I based this scene on disappeared. This caused me to think that it might be a good idea to a painting of the yellow truck parked next to it in the field.
I drove by it several times before I decided do a painting of it. I very much love the colors. The bright fire engine red glowed brightly against the background of natural green vegetation.
This is an acrylic diptych based on a scene in East Central Florida. It isn't far from my house on Merritt Island. I noticed that these two trucks were placed out in a field by the road. A wooden fence was between them and Tropical Trail. Between and behind them was a wooden sign which says: “Smile, You're on Camera.” Of course, this caused me to smile.
When I began this painting, the word, “Dodge” was still visible on front of the truck. The last time that I saw it just a couple weeks later, someone or something had removed the letters. Maybe the raccoon did it? It seemed to be left to the elements. Weeds were growing around and under it. It was as if the owner thought that it ought to just be allowed to disintegrate. I never spoke to the owner. I wonder what the story was.
The last time that I saw it, I noticed some raccoons crossing the road. I added them to the painting. I posed them in such a way as to make it look like they were looking for something. I wanted to add some life to a rather still scene.
This heavy duty gallery wrapped canvas is 24 inches high by 30 inches wide. It is two inches deep.
