Artist's Description
This is an old painting that I did when we lived in Callaway, Florida. My sons are grown men now. This was in 1985. This was a pretty little beach near Tyndall Air Force Base. It is located 12 miles from Panama City, Florida. My youngest son was a toddler. He was one year old and his older brother was two years older than him.
As you can see, the beach is beautiful. The locals call this area the Redneck Rivera because of the beautiful beaches. The sand is known as sugar sand because it is so fine and white. The water was shallow and turquoise. My sons loved to get out their shovels and buckets. They dug holes and built sandcastles. Happy days. Happy memories.

About AnnaJo Vahle
Although born in upstate New York, I grew up mostly in Nevada and California. The fabulous panoramic views of the far west inspired me to begin painting and photographing it’s beauty. I’ve lived in various areas in the states and in Europe but always had the desire to express through painting and photography. While living in the Mediterranean, I was especially influenced by the great Renaissance art and the chiaroscuro work of Caravaggio. I began with oils, worked with a wide variety of mediums but now mostly work in acrylic, oils, and photography.
