Artist's Description
The Cape Canaveral Lighthouse Is located on Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. It is the only working lighthouse owned by the United States Space Force.
It is a favorite place for us to take friends and family. I included my husband, my son and son-in-law in the middle ground by the lighthouse. I painted our friend and my cousin in front of the keeper's cottage. Just for the fun of it, I added three armadillos in the foreground. We almost always see some in the area.
This is where it all started. In the 1950's, the first rockets were launched in the shadow of the Lighthouse. Today, as in those early days, new launch pads are rising again near the lighthouse.
The lighthouse tower, built in 1868 and moved to its present location in 1894, stands 151 feet tall. During restoration in 2007, the original brass cupola was refurbished and reset atop the tower.
A keeper's cottage has been completed to match the original and serves as a museum and gift shop.

Although born in upstate New York, I grew up mostly in Nevada and California. The fabulous panoramic views of the far west inspired me to begin painting and photographing it’s beauty. I’ve lived in various areas in the states and in Europe but always had the desire to express through painting and photography. While living in the Mediterranean, I was especially influenced by the great Renaissance art and the chiaroscuro work of Caravaggio. I began with oils, worked with a wide variety of mediums but now mostly work in acrylic, oils, and photography.
