Artist's Description
It was a quiet Halloween evening and I was in the mood to paint. I really didn't have anything special in mind. I had been thinking of trees and skies but that was to be for another painting.
I began with a rich combination of pthalocyanine blue mixed with some ultramarine. Before I was really aware of it, I was mixing in some titanium white and cerulean. Clouds appeared. Next was a moon. Stars seemed to be required and they surrounded the moon. A leafless tree evolved with shades of dioxazine purple and a bit of paynes gray. Blue was added here and there. I found myself thinking of the neurographic style of art that I had been exploring as I created the tree and the many fine branches. A perfectly peaceful way to relax for me.

Although born in upstate New York, I grew up mostly in Nevada and California. The fabulous panoramic views of the far west inspired me to begin painting and photographing it’s beauty. I’ve lived in various areas in the states and in Europe but always had the desire to express through painting and photography. While living in the Mediterranean, I was especially influenced by the great Renaissance art and the chiaroscuro work of Caravaggio. I began with oils, worked with a wide variety of mediums but now mostly work in acrylic, oils, and photography.
