Description
This is a diptych made of two stretched canvasses. Each of them are 40 inches tall and 30 inches wide. This, obviously, makes for a total image of 60 inches wide and 40 inches tall. We went for a hike on the Oak Hammock Trail, which is part of the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. It is rich with wildlife.
We experienced a lot of unpleasant wildlife the day that we took a hike together! Mosquitoes! Lots and lots and lots of mosquitoes kept us company. They made their presence known incessantly. It had rained the day before. We should have known better. I hoped that we would have a nice day together. The millennium was a couple months away.
I insisted that we walk along the path, even it if it was quickly. At the midpoint, we saw the railroad tracks. They were in good shape because they were part of the Kennedy Space Center. I believe that they were used to transport parts of the rockets and Space Shuttle. Watching the boys walk along the rails made me think of this project. I had been trying to come up with an idea to commemorate the coming century.
This was a crossroad in each of their lives for several reasons. The way that they balanced on the rails seemed to indicate their differences.
