While visiting the Atlantic Strings Store in Melbourne, Florida, I saw some beautiful bowed string instruments. I wandered around studying and photographing the various violins, violas, cellos and basses. I got some interesting shots of the instruments, themselves, and various displays. This photograph is of some miniature violins and their cases. I thought the obvious human like forms was enchanting. The beautiful colors and smooth textures fascinated me. They were real working violins, not just toys or replicas. My friend helped me to arrange them for this photograph. I used my trusty i-phone as the camera.
Although born in upstate New York, I grew up mostly in Nevada and California. The fabulous panoramic views of the far west inspired me to begin painting and photographing it’s beauty. I’ve lived in various areas in the states and in Europe but always had the desire to express through painting and photography. While living in the Mediterranean, I was especially influenced by the great Renaissance art and the chiaroscuro work of Caravaggio. I began with oils, worked with a wide variety of mediums but now mostly work in acrylic, oils, and photography.
