We went to the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania while recently visiting my son. For 125 years, Phipps has been its city’s green oasis, connecting Pittsburghers to the beauty and importance of nature while advancing the role of the public garden in the fields of education, outreach and sustainable innovation.
It was a gray rainy day. We decided that it was prudent to do something together indoors. They have a big glass house full of beautiful plants and flowers. This one was our favorite of them all. It was covered with rain drops. Sensuous on every level. All of us had our I-Phones and took turns photographing it.

Although born in upstate New York, I grew up mostly in Nevada and California. The fabulous panoramic views of the far west inspired me to begin painting and photographing it’s beauty. I’ve lived in various areas in the states and in Europe but always had the desire to express through painting and photography. While living in the Mediterranean, I was especially influenced by the great Renaissance art and the chiaroscuro work of Caravaggio. I began with oils, worked with a wide variety of mediums but now mostly work in acrylic, oils, and photography.
