Description
This is the begining stage of the painting that I finally called. "Big Bertha." I did several painting en plein air from this location. Later, I learned that I had been sitting in an alligator's nest. I was trying to show the mood and the light of sitting in that quiet spot beneath all the mangrove trees. I was having fun with the colors. I kept moving the water around and changing the colors. I was troubled with the waves. They didn't always read quite right. I eventually moved the shoreline back towards the left.

An alligator's nest!!? Whoa, that is scary! Such a deeply beautiful and detailed work of art AnnaJo. The colors and composition are wonderful, and those tree branches incredibly full of life to me. I love the sunlight in this as well, it is simply perfect. Such a masterpiece, truly!

I so like the way the mangrove trees are reaching across the canvas. I'm glad the alligators were willing to share their nest with you! like/f

Dear AnnaJo…how does one narrow the focus on yoir mastery?…while I …v…ALL, THIS one steals my heArt…I love the FEEL OF PRISTINE nature in its elemental air, Light , Water, wave moment…absent life …except…the essence of the One painting. This remains my personal FAV!

This is the reason I love posted phases of development…THIS is my favorite glaze of your beautifully detailed painting, AnnaJo. The mood of changing colors and Light…the Peace and Calm of the “ favorite” spot…I can imagine the scent of salt air, the languid lapping of the waves against the buttress of mangroves…the Comfort of The Ancient Elements…in the Moment….for the journey…into and beyond, visit the BUZzz.

Thank you so very much, Laurel. I really appreciate your thoughtful generous comments. I am pleased that you "get" what I was struggling to achieve.
