I love how you are open about your process of making art. It is funny how it works. Often the public loves something simple we almost don't show or post. Then they ignore what we think is our masterpiece. I think the making of it is the true value.

AnnaJo Vahle replied:

Thank you, Dick. I agree with your comment. It is the process for me that is most important. The product is a bonus.

Painting is organic with me. I rarely follow any particular rules. I often change my mind, move things around, change them, or take them in or out. I should plan better but I don't enjoy the planning. I just want to jump in and paint. It is the...

About AnnaJo Vahle

AnnaJo Vahle

Although born in upstate New York, I grew up mostly in Nevada and California. The fabulous panoramic views of the far west inspired me to begin painting and photographing it’s beauty. I’ve lived in various areas in the states and in Europe but always had the desire to express through painting and photography. While living in the Mediterranean, I was especially influenced by the great Renaissance art and the chiaroscuro work of Caravaggio. I began with oils, worked with a wide variety of mediums but now mostly work in acrylic, oils, and photography. I studied mostly engineering in college but ended up with a degree in Technical Illustration, one in Psychology after several moves and colleges, one in Art Education. My experience as a...
