Description
This is a 12 inch by 16 inch acrylic on stretched canvas painting.
This was intended to be all about the sky. I painted this en plein air from my dining room. It is the sunrise over the water in our backyard. I am grateful to have such a beautiful view. I just look out our sliding glass door. Most morning are magical with a different sky each dawn. Most every morning, I think that I have to do a painting of the sky. This is not the first time that I have done this. I doubt that it will be the last. It is simply too good a subject to pass up.
I did make a little alteration this time with the foreground. We watch the turtles out in the water all the time. I didn't see this exact turtle nor this exact foreground. I didn't want to put anything in the foreground that might detract from the pretty sky. I thought, instead, of my many visits to the nearby Viera Wetlands and imagined that this was the foreground.
The sky is fairly accurate. Even the dark clouds which seemed to portend rain in the offing were as I have depicted.
