Description
They were friends for about forty years. They met at work. Their jobs often took them around the world. They got together every Sunday for pizza. It didn't matter where in the world they were, but they always found some place to get pizza. This is one of those times. Friends, wives, girlfriends, and families often accompanied them over the years.
Cliff is on the left and Jim is on the right. Recently I saw Jim slide around the table of friends. They were having a nice amiable conversation reminiscing. I don't remember the subject of their conversation. In fact, I don't think that I could hear above all the noise around us.
I grabbed my trusty I-Phone and took a few photos. I knew immediately that it was a subject that I wanted to paint. Of course, I made various changes. This was a happy memory.
Sadly, the following week, after I sketched in the beginning of my painting, Cliff suddenly died. He had just celebrated his 78th birthday.
Both Cliff's widow and Jim encouraged me to complete the double portrait. We still get together every week for pizza. Now, Cliff is only there in our hearts.
This impressionistic acrylic painting is on a 30” by 40” stretched premium canvas.
