Description
Several of us had lunch at a fun seafood restaurant in Eau Gallie, Florida. It is on the beach of the Indian River. Seagrapes are all around the perimeter of the property. It is a common sight along all of our coastlines. In fact, I am currently working on a painting of a forest of seagrape trees that I saw along the beach further south near Fort Pierce. It seemed like a good opportunity to take a few photos so that I might better understand the details.
Seagrape takes its common name from coastal home and the clusters of red, grape-like fruits it produces. Though not true grapes, these fruits are edible. The taste is often compared to muscadine grapes. Seagrape is beautiful and tasty. Like our native mangrove, it is also protected.
