Description
I began this painting by simply painting the 24” by 36” stretched canvas orange. Cadmium orange, to be exact. I found an old tube of real cadmium orange, not the substitutes that are sold these days. I really wasn't sure where it was going to go. We have such beautiful sunrises and sunsets here that I found that I was painting one before really had anything planned. We live by a lake. We watch birds and wildlife all the time. This is an imaginary somewhat surrealistic scene. I put a little island in and kept adding birds.
However, we went on a road trip for a couple of weeks before I finished the painting. I lost the mood while we were gone. I tried to finish it upon our return but I wasn't up to it. I have been tired and am going through a relapse of my multiple sclerosis. The world spins. I am not over it yet but just can't keep working on it any more. Sometimes that happens. I am not sure if this is a sunrise or a sunset. I saw a sunrise very much like this just this morning. I will leave it up to the viewer to decide if the day is beginning or it is ending.
