Description
I was dealing with a few obstacles for my usual methods of painting and/or getting out to photograph. I thought that it might be fun to do an abstract painting.
We are still under quarantine here in Florida. Even so, when the quarantine was relaxed a bit a few weeks ago, I managed to have three different surgeries. A couple of cataract surgeries and one on my ankle. The ankle surgery removed a melanoma. All seem to have been successful if not perfect. However, the healing process involved having to spend a few weeks with my foot raised above my heart. Ice packs were also necessary. This meant that I was not being able to sit up or stand comfortably for painting.
I began by just doodling. I didn't have anything at all in my mind. I had set out a full palette of paints. Yet, I just ended up using three colors plus white. I used ultramarine blue, pthalocyanine blue, and dioxazine purple. I allowed the canvas to talk to me as I followed something deep within me. It was a kind of meditation. I was expressing something that I had no other way to express.
As the painting progress, I noticed that I kept seeing hidden faces and eyes. Every time I took a break and came back to it, I saw more faces and more eyes. The Eyes had it! I kept hearing that refrain in my head.
After I sent a photo of it to my son, he asked if it was because of my recent surgeries. I had not thought of that connection. I believe that he cleverly figured it out!

ANNAJO, THANK YOU, Thank you, thankyou For entering four of my FAVS, ...each for different reasons: this beauty takes ME back .....oh ANNAJO, THIS is amazing...pain, fear, anxiety, determination, resignation, there is even a swathed face that looks almost mummified ...the eye positions speak VOLUMES. I SEE...GENIUS! I also see a kindred spirit who has had a lifetime of outwardly invisible pain. I relate...one looks wonderful on the outside and no one suspects one is trying to stand upright and make it thru one more day.
