Description
It was Memorial Day and I was in the mood to go to the beach. It was a stormy rainy day. We are in the middle of a quarantine. Going to the beach just didn't seem like a good idea. So I decided to do a painting of it as I imagined it might look like. I live nearby and am familiar with that beach. I sorta did this plein air because I just looked out the window over the lake behind our home and painted the sky as I saw it. I changed the foreground to what I imagined it would look like at Cocoa Beach. It is only a few miles away. They were having the same weather as at my home. I have several photographs that I have taken of the beach over the years. I looked through some of them to give me ideas and put me in the mood.
I tried to imagine that I was at the beach while the clouds were turning dark and the water began to get rough. A seagull flies past me and goes down the beach around the sand dune. Grasses and sea oats top the dune. The tide is high and nearly at it's high point.
I think that it is about time to leave. I had better go if I want to avoid the incoming rain.
This is a 16 inch by 20 inch stretched canvas. I used acrylic paints in a loose brushy style. Everything about creating this painting was therapeutic. I forgot about the virus throughout the world. I mostly painted this yesterday but I waited to sign it today. Wasn't sure if there was anything that I needed to correct.
As so often happens...the painting was enjoyable. Trying to load the photo onto my new computer was difficult for me. Sooo....puting it on my web page was the frustrating part.

Your gallery is like visiting a museum! Such brilliant art everywhere. I love the dramatic and ominous sky here especially at the beach where I can sense the ocean is becoming restless. You are such a talent. A joy to view your work!
