Description
Since I was a novice at this form of art, I kept this, my first effort, simple. I painted the background, between the trees with melted wax. I dyed it with purple dye. The wax crackled throughout as I pushed the cloth through the pot of dye. I hung it out to dry on the line. Once dried, I put it through layers of newspapers and ironed it with a warm iron. That melted the wax. I had to do that many times to get the wax removed from the cloth. I did this eighteen times. I, then, matted all the images and made them into cards to send to my loved ones.
This practice has been going on for centuries, and you can find some of the best practitioners of the craft on the island of Java, Indonesia.

Oh, I do love this, AnnaJo! It was well worth all of your effort and time! I love the feminine feel of the trees . . . they seem like graceful ladies dancing and swaying to the music of the earth . . . .f/l
