Description
While visiting some friends one afternoon, I saw this tractor. I took a couple of quick photos with my I phone. It was a clear cloudless sky. That is unusual for this area. One thing that I love so much about Florida is the skies. We have some the most beautiful clouds. I thought that this would be an opportunity to include such a sky in my painting. I changed the foreground to make it a bit more interesting. I added the puddle to reflect the sky colors. I added a painted bunting to the middle ground to give it a punch of color. It is a small bird and probably difficult to find in the photo, but it is there. I have watched painted buntings here quite often when visiting. They gather around the bird-feeder. I liked the idea of a little life in what is an essentially quiet landscape.
This is a typical scene in this part of Florida. I hoped to express the peace and quiet. The rust and obvious wear and tear apparent on the tractor appealed to me. It is apparently a John Deere Tractor but the letters had mostly worn off.
Scottsmoor is an unincorporated community in the north end of Brevard County, Florida, United States. It is on U.S. 1, and also the northernmost settlement in the county. It is a farming community east of Interstate 95, similar to Malabar.

4/1/22..Won 3rd place in the Oil and Acrylic category in the 57th Annual Art Show and Competition presented by the North Brevard Art League in Titusville, Florida.
