Description
While out exploring the farm fields near Fort Pierce, Florida, I came upon this sight. At first, I had trouble figuring out what was stuck in the fence gate. It was an old rusted spade. It was the fence around a a cow farm. As you can see there was barbed wire on the fence. It was, also, covered with moss and lichen. I thought the textures and colors were rather fascinating. I considered the idea of doing a painting of it. However, I decided that it was interesting in itself as a photograph. It looks like it may have been used in fighting a fire. I saw that there were signs of fire on much of the fence posts. Perhaps the farmer burned the fields from time to time to clear the brush? I didn't have any of the answers to my questions. I enjoyed my walk out in the country.
