Description
My son took us to see this wonderful sight. It was a beautiful fall day. The leaves were turning colors. They seemed mostly golden that day. I was looking for ideas to paint. I delighted to see this picturesque bridge. We don't see scenes like this in Florida, where I live. I found it enchanting. Of course spending the time with my son is always a pleasure.
I painted this on 16 inch by 20 inch stretched canvas using acrylic paint. I based the composition on several photographs that I took.
McConnell’s Mill Covered Bridge is located in the heart of McConnells Mill State Park. This bridge crosses Slippery Rock Creek just downstream of a dam and McConnell’s Mill. The mill is a grist mill that dates to the 1860s. Actually, the bridge was built in 1874. It is in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is Howe truss built on stone foundations and supported by steel girders.
Because the setting of this bridge is near the mill and dam and inside one of the most beautiful state parks in Pennsylvania, it is one of PA’s must-visit covered bridges.
